About WordCraft
About WordCraft Guide
WordCraft Guide is an independent informational guide about WordCraft, GridCraft and the free vibe-coded office apps. WordCraft, GridCraft, DeckCraft, CADCraft, and SoundCraft are free, open-source productivity apps built as alternatives to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and Avid Pro Tools. Like the ArtCraft creative suite before them, they were vibe-coded — written largely by AI coding agents — and released free for everyone.
These apps are newer and earlier in development than their creative-suite cousins, and we describe their real state honestly on every page: what works, what is missing, and who should wait.
What you will find here
We publish hands-on guides, installation walkthroughs, honest comparisons with the paid originals, and freshness updates as these fast-moving projects release new versions. Every article is written in plain language and checked against official sources before publishing.
Who this site is for
It is written for students, freelancers, and small teams looking for free office software, and for anyone following the vibe-coding movement.
Our approach
We say plainly when software is early, unfinished, or not ready for serious work — and we say plainly when something is genuinely good. We link to official sources (getartcraft.com) so you can always verify claims yourself, and we never ask you to download anything from us: all downloads come from the projects' own official pages.
How our guides are made
Every guide starts from primary sources: the project's official documentation, its public code repository, and its own release notes. We then compare that against independent coverage from reputable tech press and, where possible, hands-on testing notes from the community. When sources disagree — common with fast-moving early-stage software — we say so, and we show our work by linking out so you can check the originals.
Articles carry an implicit freshness contract: this space moves in weeks, not years. When a project ships a major release or corrects a widely repeated claim, we update the relevant guides and note the change. If you ever find a page that feels stale, the community reports are the fastest way to get it refreshed.
